Saturday nights are the perfect time for house music. No matter where you go up and down the country the Saturday night house music fans never disappoint in showcasing, glamour, style and flair and coming out in huge numbers to get down to some real jack your body house music. No more so than the crowd who follow Lamerica.
Following recent changes in the Cardiff club scene including the scheduled closure of one of the cities finest clubs The Emporium, Cardiff has seen an upheaval of promoters moving their nights to new venues and from what I saw on Saturday Lamerica has chosen their new venue wisely.
The Union (Formerly Reds) on Churchill Way was the place to be when Lamerica presented one of the UK’s leading house labels ‘Defected’ Tour with International Producer, Re-Mixer and DJ Sandy Rivera of Kings of Tomorrow fame came to Cardiff and literally rocked the club to its very foundations.
Lamerica has always offered a quality night out and this night was no exception. Spread over three floors Lamerica promoter and resident DJ Craig Bartlett & Co provided a selection of house music to suit everyone’s taste. Real House Music in the main room with guest Sandy Rivera, a slightly more classic style on the second level and in the roof top some nice funk went down a treat.
It was the main room however, that proved popular and within the time it took to have a good look around the club from the time I got there, (about forty mins), the main room was packed and the crowd were loving it.
