Lashed In Wales
Evolution Nightclub, Cardiff.
For over ten years in Cardiff, one name has been synonymous with quality clubbing and high profile DJ’s, and that’s Time Flies. Since moving operations to one of Cardiff’s biggest venues Evolution at Cardiff Bay, Time Flies has seen success follow success as their periodical Saturday nights hit maximum capacity time and time again.
With legends Like Judge Jules and Dave Pearce already making regular appearances at the club, Time Flies has once again been at the forefront of what’s happening in the nations club scene and brought what is currently arguably the UK’s best dance night ‘Lashed’ featuring Lisa Lashes and a host of other A list DJ’s to the Cardiff Scene.
Following last year’s events in Ibiza and sell out parties all around the UK ‘Lashed’ is currently taking the country by storm and it was in full effect when it rolled into Cardiff as a promotion with Time Flies.
When we arrived at the club at around 11.30 there was no queue to get in. Although somewhat strange for an event of this size all became obvious when we hit the main room. The place was already rammed and it took us almost 20 mins to walk from the entrance of the main room to the DJ booth, a journey normally taken in just seconds under normal circumstances. I was informed that capacity was almost reached within one hour of opening the doors. The tunes were kicking and the crowd was well up for a party. Hands in the air at half eleven, wicked! A sweet taste of the night to come.
The two rooms were open, correction, needed to be open to be able to accommodate the already massive crowd that were gathered to witness the Time Flies ‘Lashed’ road show. In room 1 Kris Hill was whipping the crowd up ready for the onslaught of no less than six headlining DJ’s that consisted of the already mentioned Mr. Hill, rising DJ A Star, Lisa Pin Up, Lisa Lashes, BK and Andy Farley. An ‘A’ list to die for, the hard house royalty all under one roof. As for Room 2 house and breaks were the order of the night and this was brought in by a number of top level DJ’s including Wales’ Danny Slade, Time Flies resident Richard Hitchell, DJ Legend John Kelly and a special set of funky house and breaks by Lisa Lashes.
The club looked awesome, lavish ‘Lashed’ Décor specially made for the club turned the usually drab Evolution interior into a clubbers paradise in white and lashed mobiles hung of the ceiling light frame, not so much here but it was that the ‘all singing all dancing’ colour lazer could be used to full effect.
As the tunes banged in the crowd responded and the atmosphere was second to none. Rammed, hot and sweaty, a perfect club party. (One miner, bug bear though to Evolution Management, did the cold air blowers have to be left on full blast all night? Behind the decks it was freezing and at one stage I definitely saw a Brass Monkey crying his eyes out with cold).
Lisa had the crowd eating out of her hands and every tune she slipped in made the crowd go nuts in usual fashion. The party rocked all night and a great time was had by all. Time Flies has once again pulled out all the stops to bring another top night of clubbing to Wales and gets big thumbs up from me. If this is the state of Cardiff clubbing at the moment, well from where I’m standing it doesn’t look that bad. With another Time Flies event planned for Monday 27th at Evolution and featuring Radio 1’s Fergie and John OO Flemming I know where Ill be burning off those Mince Pies and Turkey, make sure you are too.
