Atlantis
'Fiji' by Atlantis was released on Monday 23rd October on Inferno Records and has received monster support from Oakenfold to Lottie, from Gold to Fontaine. With this track tipped to go Top 20 and with their new (soon to be released) track "Virus" already appearing on Luke Neville's Radio 1 Essential mix before it's release, we thought it time to let you know a little more about Atlantis.
Atlantis are Paul Kershaw, George Winkworth and Lloyd Horton. Paul, from Birmingham, is a Sundissential resident, Galaxy 102.2 FM presenter and hard working international DJ (fortnightly resident at Eden - Ibiza this summer) George, a resident of Leamington Spa, is a long time music producer of 14 years and Lloyd, from Coventry, has been into clubbing since 1987 and continues his passion by accompanying Lisa Lashes to all the venues she performs at.
The trio met through working in clubs and all share a similar passion in music. George and Lloyd ran a record shop in Leamington Spa called Subterrania. It was through this shop that their record label was born. After the Good Friday floods of 1998, through which the pair suffered losses of 25,000 (all of the pair's musical equipment was in a studio in the basement) the three friends decided to team up and forge forward with new projects. The name Atlantis was poignant considering the way in which the original studio was lost, and it was this name that the trio stuck with.
Fiji has appeared on the 5 biggest compilation albums this year to date. It was originally released on Subterrania in 1998, then on Seb Fontaine's label in 1999 and now on Inferno. It has appeared on MTV, Sky Ones 'Cream' documentary, ITV 'Clubavision', BBC 'Music Live' as well as multiple plays on Radio 1, Kiss, Capital and Galaxy.
