Brancaccio & Aisher

Their emergence on the global dance scene in 2000 was arguably a curious arrival for a duo who highlight their favourite artists of all time as Jim Morrison and Burt Baccarach and spend their 'free' time listening to hip hop; but far beyond the world of progressive house, people are increasingly recognising the names Brancaccio & Aisher.

The year 2000 was notable not just for the release of Brancaccio & Aisher's first single 'Darker' as a production team but also witnessed the birth of their label Player One Records. Studio Manager overseeing the production of 'Darker' at Pow! Studios, Jody Sharp, was so impressed with this their first track that she joined forces with Luke and Bruce to establish Player One in order to release the track themselves. Instincts proved correct and having caught the attention of all the main progressive 'players', 'Darker' went on to be licensed to Paul Oakenfold's 'Travelling' compilation (selling over 150,000 in the US), to Perfecto in the UK and across the world. Player One has gone on to establish itself in dance music far beyond its status as a prime mover in progressive house though, its rise mirroring that of Luke & Bruce's artistic reputation.

The massive range of support Brancaccio & Aisher have received, beyond the world of progressive house, is testament of their immense popularity. In the progressive scene this support has come from Danny Tenaglia, Paul Oakenfold, Sasha, Jimmy Van M and Satoshi Tomiie to name a few; Pete Tong ensuring global coverage with his Essential Selection.

More unlikely but no less ardent in their appreciation of the quality of the production is Annie Nightingale, amongst the first to demonstrate her support for the boys. Perhaps the clearest and best description of the sound, though, comes from the artists themselves who call it simply 'Forward thinking dance music'.

From 'Darker' and the beginnings of Player One things have snow balled as production work and their demand as remixers has blown up. Two years in the studio has seen an increasingly impressive CV and decreasing amount of free time as associations with Avantgarde, Decipher and Baroque rack up, besides remixes of late including Origin 'Rage' for Renaissance, James Holden 'One for You' for Silver Planet, Manticore 'Slaves', and of course 'Sanctuary' on Bedrock: a track they consider their best remix work to date.

The keenly anticipated release of 'It's Gonna Be... (A Lovely Day)' is just the latest development in the burgeoning relationship between Brancaccio & Aisher and Bedrock Records. Luke and Bruce marked this back in May 2001 with the track 'Strapped' under the guise 'White Room'. Jimmy Van M then went on to make his feelings on the subject of their music known by including Player One's 'Music Don't Stop' on his Bedrock mix album. Most recently though the demand for Brancaccio & Aisher's remix of 'Sanctuary' - Jimmy Van M @ Sanctuary, previously only available on Bedrock's 'Foundations - Granite' album, has seen the track given a release on vinyl!

The current fervour in the dance world, though, undoubtedly surrounds the release of 'It's Gonna Be... (A Lovely Day)'. Luke and Bruce strip away the layers of the C&C Music Factory sampled track 'Soul System' and put them back in the shape of a fantastic brooding cut, set apart by the unprecedented attention it's received throughout the dance world, Number 1 in the Cool Cuts Chart and an Essential Tune in the opinion of Pete Tong; the effect of the mind-blowing vocal across virtually any dance floor is a thing to be amazed by.

After less than two years, then, the names Brancaccio & Aisher look set to establish themselves firmly as they immerse themselves in dance culture. A burgeoning production relationship, still only in its infancy Luke and Bruce find themselves in the rare position of having established an impressive breadth of experience and collaborations, a release that looks set to take the music world by storm in the single 'It's Gonna Be... (A Lovely Day)' and the prospect of some fantastic work ahead of them. The queue to have a 'B&A' remix grows increasingly lengthy, but itís the shattering vocal, the reverb in the words It's Gonna Be' that anticipates the fact that it is undoubtedly the originality and potential of the two makes the prospect of their future work as a production duo the real source of excitement!.
