Steve Thomas
Steve Thomas, just a resident at Trade right? Wrong... The guy is one of the most successful and hardworking people in the business. Best known for his DJing, he also takes in running a hugely successful record label, remixing/producing and looking after his dog!

Born and raised n Cardiff, Steve soon found the city far too small for him, and up and left for London at the age of 15. Arriving in London in the early eighties he became ...er a Goth in 1987, while working as a graphic designer some friends dragged him down a certain club named shoom. This completely changed his life. The next week he burned his black velvet and frilly shirt wardrobe, replacing it with Smiley T- Shirts and bandanna¹s, and dragged about 60 soon to be ex-Goths down to Shoom again.
Steve, who had always been a great music lover and collector, soon found his way to Pure Groove records, and quickly built up a collection to rival any DJ at the time, constantly boring his friends with obscure remixes and constant talking about new tunes. His friends took the initiative, and bought him some decks for his 21st birthday. Within months he secured his first residency - the groundbreaking Labyrinth in Dalston, East London.
There is usually one event in a someone¹s life that determines their success. Steve's is a very pissed Malcolm Duffy. Malcolm and Trade's Laurence Malice were at Labyrinth one night, Malcolm decided to get utterly pissed, to drunk to play in Laurence¹s opinion, so Steve was asked to step in Steve played, rocked the gaff, and got offered a residency at Trade playing the 7-9 slot. This all started in 1993...

Steve soon became a firm favourite at Trade and his reputation spread quickly, resulting in gigs throughout the UK and World-wide. UK gigs include Cream, rotation at Sundissential, Vague, BugJam (10.000 people), Ministry of Sound, Weekly residency at DTPM and many, many, more. World-wide, he has been resident for Trade in Ibiza (Privilege, El Divino & Space), a Japanese Tour (which saw clubbers crying with delight when they met him!), a US Tour, a South African Tour, all alongside regular gigs in Europe. One of Steve¹s highlights was a residency alongside Danny Tenaglia at Twilo in NY, This came about via Trade, whose DJ's played in the second room, apart from Steve... He is the only person EVER to play a two hour prime time slot in the middle of Tenaglias marathon set, not once but every time he played there.
Steve¹s musical style is based around hard house, naturally knowing what records to play anywhere across the globe. Technically, Steve has a very unique style in that when he is in the mix, he never touches the vinyl to speed up or slow down the track. Why? As Steve puts it "it won't sit properly in the mix, its not accurate enough." He is a complete perfectionist always voted in the Top 100 World-wide DJs by DJ Magazine.
As well as his DJing, Steve is a partner in the huge Tripoli Trax record label, releasing his own tracks under guises such as 'The Experts' and 'Fruitloop' as well as under his own name. All these records ripping up the dancefloor at hard house clubs. He has also remixed hundreds of other tracks including two records which charted in the UK top 10; Tall Paul- Rock the House & Red 5- I love you... Stop. Steve has also compiled and mixed two of Trade's mix albums (both selling over 30.000 copies) and 'The best of Tripoli Trax' selling over 35.000 copies.
Can there be anything else to say? Yes, Steve has also been voted DJ of the month for Muzik (Sept 1999), and has played live on Kiss FM and on Danny Rampling¹s show on Radio 1 and of course the ever famous Essential mix for Pete Tong.
In a recent poll done by Muzik Magazine Steve was voted no 8 in the world and seems finally to be reaching the acclaim he deserves. Now with the exclusive management he is set to go through the roof.
