Superfunk

Superfunk are Mike 303, Stephané B. and Evers T., three guys from Marseille. Their musical roots are in Funk, Disco, Electro, hip Hop. Superfunk is one of the first acts on french cult label Fiat Lux. What happens then already belongs to general knowledge for House DJs and music lovers.

They release under three synonyms: Superfunk, Dealers de Funk and Da Filtermen from Marseille. They establish within a project with Sexy Cool. That’s not the only co-operation. Dimitri from Paris or Paul Johnson as well are creative mates of the Marseillen who generally are very active parts of international music life. Therefore they developed to one of the main influences on the French music scene today.

Most recognised are their productions „New Jersey“, „Come back“ taken from the Fiat Lux compilation „Racing Team `99” and, for sure, the club hits from the 2000 released album “Hold up” including the unexpected global smash hit “Lucky Star”. Famous became the track’s voice, Ron Carroll, a basement complex of the Chicago house scene, where he lives since today. “Lucky Star” halls even years later and Mike 303 & co. will probably tell their grandchildren the story of this hit. After it turned quiet around Superfunk, the contract with Fiat Lux expires. It takes four years to reshuffle the charts.

2004 “Lover” is released, another project of Superfunk and Ron Carroll, published on the auspicious label Chicaria Records. Remixes and a Remake of “Lucky Star” are planned for 2005. May the summer begin!
