DJ Ziad

Trade, DTPM, Pure Groove, The Arches (Glasgow), Paradise Factory, Mardi Gras, European Tour, Malta, Ibiza, Japan, Rio, South Africa...

DJ Ziad began DJing in 1987 with Pure Groove Promotions playing at various one off underground House and Techno Parties.

Since then, he has been responsible for the setting up of London's best vinyl emporiums, Pure Groove Records. The successful shop, situated in Archway is also home to his Co-owned label Tripoli Trax.

 

After DJing extensively around the London underground party circuit in the late eighties and early nineties, plus a European tour with Nicolette, playing in Austria and Miami, Ziad took up a brief residency at Trade (London) in the summer of 1994.

Ziad's studio career began in the early 1990's recording under various guises, most notably 'Da Junkies'. Da Junkies, a collaboration between DJ Ziad and Mark Shiner have remixed the likes of Armand Van Helden's 'Witch Doctor', Chrissey Wards 'Right and Exact', and Lemon 8's 'The Bells of Revolution'amongst others... He has also recently completed two solo remixes through Tripoli Trax for artists Obsessive and The Freak and Mac Zimms.

1997 saw Ziad return to the legendary Trade at Turnmills, as well as various stints at DTPM at The End (London). Over the last couple of years Ziad has also toured with Trade to places as diverse as Rio, Malta and Ibiza. Early 1999 Ziad toured Japan with fellow Trade Jock Steve Thomas, South Africa with Kev Bird (KGB) and is Set to tour in Hong Kong with *resistance in 2000. The tour of South Africa also promoted Ziad¹s mix album for Tripoli Trax.

 

Recently Ziad has taken up many other residencies including the excellent Kitty Lips (London) playing alongside Queen Maxine and Vicki Redd. Ziad also headlines as main resident at Trade at The Arches (Glasgow) and Trade at the Paradise Factory (Manchester), Playing a set at the main Mardi Gras event 1999 (to thousands of people) as well as a weekly dose of Fresca at The End on Sundays.

Ziad also has his own single released on Tripoli Trax, Out now its titled OKeep On Rockin/Pumping It UP¹. As well as a sting of Da Junkies releases coming out on Remote recordings, the new label Ziad has set up with the infamous Malcolm Duffy.

As well as Slammin out Vinyl release¹s on Tripoli Trax getting reviewed highly in all of the Major International Music Press. Ziad has just mixed his first compilation album for Tripoli Trax released Worldwide...
