Rachel leads from the front, lyrical lines flowing effortlessly from her lips; her formative years were spent in Iran, allowing her a natural absorption of Eastern time signatures. The brilliance of Shod is their ability to forge Rhodes and sax melodies that are so perfectly harnessed within the basslines and shuffling drums that the audience is never bamboozled by the six, seven, five and ten-beat bars that feature throughout their set faultlessly.
